Helios Investment Partners has agreed to make a growth capital investment in IXAfrica, a developer and operator of hyper-scale data centres in East Africa. The leading private equity investor is acquiring a majority stake putting $50 million to work in the business which was launched last year. No additional terms of the deal, which is expected to close by the end of December, have been reported.

“IXAfrica is a story of a superb and determined management team benefiting from the foresight, innovation, and support of its founding shareholders, and an attractive and dynamic internet ecosystem in Kenya,” said Helios’s Managing Partner, Tope Lawani, adding that “…this serves to enhance the fundamental factors that make IXAfrica an exciting investment opportunity for us as we continue to develop our digital infrastructure franchise.”
