FSD Africa is making an investment commitment to Catalyst Fund, an emerging markets-focused tech accelerator managed by BFA Global, to anchor the fund’s presence in Africa. The specialist development agency is investing $3.5 million into Catalyst, boosting its capacity to provide high-impact startups on the continent with venture-building support.

Catalyst has set itself the goal of supporting 40 pre-seed impact ventures in Africa, particularly those offering fintech solutions that improve the resilience of underserved and climate-vulnerable communities. As well as the capital, Catalyst’s work with the startups will underpin strong innovation ecosystems, introducing them to other investors, capacity-building partners, and corporate innovators in a bid to unlock future capital, attract high-caliber employees, and exchange market and business-building knowledge in the fintech sector.
